It takes more than a witty pick-up line and a brilliant smile to seduce a woman. If you want to get lucky with a girl you have to know how to play the game.

A successful seduction is surprisingly easy to achieve and the techniques are not difficult to master. If you have always been the sort of guy who ends up going home alone, read on because I'm about to share the secrets that you really need to know.

Location, Location, Location

A romantic restaurant or a quiet wine bar makes an excellent seduction spot. Here you can lean in, lower your voice and really get to know a girl. The touch of luxury will put her in the sort of frivolous mood which leads to misbehaviour.

If you are not on a date, do not worry. Meeting a girl in a nightclub or at a party can lead to saucy slow dancing. Even pool halls have potential - what better excuse to put your arms around her than showing her how to hold the cue?

Nice and Slow

Seduction takes time. Settle in for a leisurely conversation and show a real interest in what the woman is saying. Ask open ended questions and appreciate her jokes. Offer occasional compliments about her jewelry, her laugh or her choice of wine and keep any complaints or criticisms to yourself.

Sleazy men do not stand a chance so avoid leering at her or asking about her sex life. Flirt with a raised eyebrow and a naughty smile, but make sure that any saucy stories you tell are about your friends' antics, not your own.

Say it with a Smile

If you want to seduce a woman you have to get the body language right. Turn your knees and shoulders towards her. If you're sitting across the table from her, lean forward and lower your voice so only she can hear you. Otherwise, consciously relax your muscles and lean back, encouraging her to move in closer.

Don't let her catch your eyes wandering. Instead, flick your gaze from eye to eye and momentarily down to her lips. She will notice the quick glance at her mouth and instantly think about kissing you.

Don't fidget, but do use your hands to their full effect. Emphasize points by squeezing her hand. Sympathize with her by gently stroking her arm. As the night wears on, move on to touching her knee or brushing stray hairs from her cheek.

The Kiss

Hold off kissing her for as long as you can. Tease her by leaning ever closer to her and finding excuses to stroke her arm. Hold her gaze and smile ever so slightly. By now, she will be desperate for you to put your lips to hers.

When you kiss, make it firm but gentle. Put one hand on the small of her back and the other in her hair or on her arm. Go easy on the tongue; girls prefer lots of short, sweet kisses to one long, deep one.

Tell her that you're not ready for tonight to end, then wait for her to invite you home.

Remember that the art of seduction is sensual and slow. Dragging her straight to the bedroom will spoil her mood, so keep up the kissing and the gentle stroking of her until she leads you there herself.
