If you get tongue tied around attractive women
you are not alone. Making small talk with
someone you are interested in can be an
intimidating experience, and this is doubly
true for first dates.
Whether you are scared of awkward silences or
tend to make tactless remarks, there are tricks
you can learn which will teach you to talk to
women. From the importance of posture to
interesting dating conversation topics, follow
the tips below and you will soon find you're
flirting with ease.
Non-Verbal Communication
No matter how nervous you may be feeling, it's
important that you learn how to hide it.
Fake relaxation when you talk to women by
making and maintaining eye contact and
resisting the urge to fidget. If you're
standing, create a less defensive pose by
keeping your feet slightly apart and your
shoulders loose; if you're seated, turn your
body towards your date and rest your hands in
full view.
Don't let your focus drift to the beautiful
women or the big screen TV in the background,
and never underestimate the importance of a
genuine smile.
Be Positive
Flirting and first dates are supposed to be fun
so don't spoil the mood by complaining. If you
don't like your job, don't talk about it. If
your friends are unreliable, forget about them.
If your food is served cold, get it dealt with
then immediately change the subject. Take this
opportunity to present yourself in a positive
light by keeping the topics upbeat.
Treat her Right
Show a genuine interest in your date by
listening to what she's saying. No matter how
funny or informative your own stories resist
the urge to interrupt her when she's
speaking.
Never criticize your date's tastes or opinions,
but don't be afraid to disagree with her. If
you discover that you don't share her personal
beliefs state that you respect her point of
view, but you don't share it. If she wants to
discuss your differences, do so calmly and
without any attempts to change her mind.
Keep it Light
No matter how serious a relationship you may be
seeking, keep the subject matter casual. At
this stage, your money worries should not
affect her and your urge to settle down is
irrelevant.
Good dating conversation topics include
hobbies, favorite vacations and hopes and
aspirations. Show an interest in her life by
asking lots of questions. If you're unfamiliar
with one of her interests, ask her to explain
it. If she loves her job or has travelled the
world, get her to tell you all about it.
Quick Fix Dating Conversation
Starters
There are certain topics which anyone can talk
about. If you seem to be sinking into silence,
revive the conversation by asking her what she
would do if she won the lottery, what her first
job was or where her ideal vacation would
be.
Encourage her to psychoanalyze celebrities.
Most women love dissecting the crazy behavior
and the whirlwind romances of the stars, so ask
her for her opinions.
Alternatively, point out some of the strange
characters dining around you and help her to
invent background stories about them.
Remember that your date is probably feeling
just as nervous as you are. Both of you are
eager to make a good impression and worried
about stilted silences. If at first your dating
conversation seems awkward and clunky, don't
worry. Keep your posture relaxed and your
expression welcoming, and before you know it
you'll hit upon a point of common interest and
your words will be flowing with ease.
